Music-wise, this is the best leap day that could ever be.
Also worth mentioning and screaming about are the new Estelle and Janelle Monae jam and this ripping new Norah Jones track. (I too wondered if the phrase “ripping new Norah Jones track” could ever exist, but trust me)
It’s going to be a good year for music.

The I Am Sam soundtrack gets me through.
Such good covers. Such a good sense of fun and love.

I got the new fun. album this morning.
I’ve played through it a few times. It’s incredible, if you ask me. A bit clubby at times, a bit anthemic at others, but I really enjoy it on the whole. Interesting, eclectic and fun music.
They made the choice to auto-tune Nate Ruess a lot for stylistic (rather than tuning, I hope) reasons, which is super bizarro because he is an incredible...

Sorry

The show’s good! Nick is wonderful. Life on the whole is good and stressful.
I just don’t have any time. Blah.
Gotta go teach!

Reading through the acting tag
Makes me happy to be in theater. What a lovely group of people. Offering up audition information, asking for advice. How nice to see a digital representation of the wonderful support system that theater provides.
… And also a few weird divas who want to have sex with everybody.

Reasons why Gareth is my best friend:
So everybody knows and nobody can say otherwise:
He’s got the good parts of Woody Allen but none of the bad parts.
We can talk about a cappella music ad nauseum and pretend we’re smarmy music critiques. “The third verse felt a bit hollow to me, I thought the low end really dropped out.”
We are both comedy snobs and refuse to laugh if something is too base.

Odd anticipation today. It started as dread, I woke up feeling a bit sick, but after lunch into the afternoon it’s given way to this formless, overwhelming expectation.
I want an internship. I want to leave Columbia and get out of school. I want to go experience new things and make art. I’m so hungry for it. Being here has been exactly what I needed, but I feel the gears turning. I...

Theater Business 101:
Sending out formal emails to the theaters we’ve auditioned for so far.
Got my headshot and resume out to Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Irondale in NYC, and sent requests for 3 letters of reference from professors. This is pretty fun stuff. I love being able to follow up an audition with a nice little email saying how much fun I had. It’s not even lying. I’ve had a blast so far.
